We, Debbie and Carolyn, met through a shared love of art. Our conversations, many times over a delicious latte in Kiwi cafe, would roam through where we could find unique, handmade items, made by local artists. Could we ever run an art and craft shop offering customers just such products?
We were nonetheless still a little surprised to find ourselves one October day standing inside the barn doors of what was to be our bijou store contemplating whether we were brave enough to translate those conversations into reality.
We signed on the dotted line within a couple of days and the adventure began...
Our wonderful handyman Ian came in to add a door and an inner window. Chowler decorators visited next and then Pete the electrician followed. We wondered how you actually go about stocking a shop, wrestled with the challenge of finding a business name that might work, opened a bank account, endured insurance headaches, procured fire extinguishers etc. and finally opened our doors on the last Saturday of November 2024.
Our heartfelt thanks to all of the customers who came to support us, then as now. We hope you enjoy the creativity, in all its forms from local artists, that we share in our bijou store and studio.
